culmination of several other Kachinas from different pueblos and different cerimonies. Poli refers to the Poli Kachina (Butterfly Kachina) of Hopi third mesa. Sio is from the Sio Hemis Kachina from Zuni Pueblo, and the Hemis Kachina, which originally came from the Rio Grande pueblos; namely Jemez Pueblo and Santo Domingo Pueblo. Though it is considered a Social Kachina (one who participates in the social rather than the ceremonial dances) it incorporates many of the features of the other Kachinas, which are more ceremonial in nature.
